    I have whole dvd of a band playing and want to put about 6 minutes of it up as a sample on their website. Am thinking of using youtube and linking to the site I'm building. Thing is youtube says it needs "MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 320x240 resolution with MP3 audio, at 30 frames per second.".
    Sounds very complex - but maybe it's not? Can I download a free converter to do this? And then there's the problem of just selecting a portion of the dvd for the website.

    dizigniz you can put video on your website in one of 3 ways.

    1st: Hyperlink refrence to it with text the hyperlink ref should look like this
    <a href="my_vid.mov">"some text here"</a> (note you must know the file exstension for this work for example .mov will work on Quicktime Player.)

    2nd : Same as the third but use a picture to make the hyperlink, I usually import the video file into Windows Movie Maker and take picture from within there with its camera option then save the .jpg file. Using this method will look like this
    <a href="my_vid.mov"><img src="my_pic.jpg" alt="picture_of_me" height="" width="' /></a>.

    3rd This requires the object tag which will look like this
    <object data="my_vid.mov" type="video/mov" height="" width="" autostart="true">
    </object>

    I hope this helps you.
