    I'm working on a menu that has some CSS tooltips attatched to it. In Firefox they work fine. They appear when you hover, dissapear when you roll back out.

    They didn't work at all in IE at first then I learned that IE needs coaxing to change the display settings on an element, namely a change on the background property to either something blank or some other non-impacting value.

    After tossing in the dummy value, the tooltips worked in IE... halfway.

    As you can see, they appear, but they don't dissapear. Or do they?

    I was confused as to why the text went away but not the bg. To see if anything was happening on rollout I added a border to the tooltip container. Sure enough the contrainer does go away yet the background remains, and on the next rollover acts as part of the link.

    I'm sure I've done something goofy here but I can't see it. Any ideas?

    P.S. I know about the .png incompatibility in IE, I just haven't added the code to fix it yet. These are the only .png's on the site and if they don't work properly I won't be using them anyway.

    I didn't test anything out yet, but did you try using
    letters instead of numbers?

    accessKey="B"

    Considering you used XHTML 1.0 Transitional, shouldn't you adhere to its specifications? All attribute names should be in lower case.

    Anyway, from what I observed, there was a hack used for making the display: block of the div be noticed. Perhaps there is a hack to make the display: none get noticed? Sigh, trust IE to be rich with bugs.

    Did they get that fully hammered out? Good.

    Now if only that 86% user base would update their browsers... although I wouldn't wish the pile of crap on anyone.

    Actually I think they kind of forced the update on people. At least that's what I heard. I had already updated mine, even though I use Firefox, but I use IE for testing. But as for everyone else I talked to, they said that MS basically forced the update on their users. Which I was VERY thankful for because now we can use transparent PNGs!!!
