    Hi,

My recent client has enquired about having a forum done with PHPbb (after saying when we were doing the initial design that he would have an external one).

Now I've never ever skinned a forum before, but I might as well learn now, and to be quite honest, I need the cash.

Is skinning phpBB hard? Is there a decent guide on the internet for it?

Is skinning it to fit in with the style of the web-page possible:

    (see: http://hofflenosh.f2g.net/DevCell/index.html ).

It might not load properly, I believe my host is having some problems. If not, you can see it in image format on my dA account here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/53488089/

phpbb is not styled using CSS so your best bet is just to replace the images

I don't suppose you know a system thats styled in just css, that I can also add some xhtml stuff into the page template (headers that is).

Actually, the latest version of phpBB, which is currently in beta (though theoretically close to release candidate status) uses (mostly) semantic XHTML and CSS to style it. Supposedly, I believe the next version of vBulletin is going the same way.

phpbb3 is very similar to phpbb2 in my experience, i'm running it on localhost and don't see what the big deal is.

I haven't played with it at all, but from a technical standpoint, the mere fact that it produces semantic XHTML is enough of a difference for me.

Yeah, I've been looking at that.

Think I might try it now I have some dedicated hosting space for testing.

creating a skin is relativly easy, when i am doing so I normally take an already created skin, and then work with the propitary tags to make sure that I am doing it correctly. They probebly have on on phpBB website
