    Hey all,

    I've been fiddling with this issue for several days and have finally given in to asking for some help.

    In IE 6 I can't seem to over-ride a default margin on (I believe) the < body > tag.

    I have validated the code, and checked all my css over several times... you can see a simple example of the page here:

    http://www.ridetheview.net/newdesign/box_test.html

    You'll notice in IE 6, the left page margin is twice the size as compared to Firefox/IE 7.

    I hope I'm just too involved and have missed something very simple, any help at all would be most appreciated.

    Cheers,
    bcode

    Try removing margins and padding on both body and html elements first. Which one gets what varies from browser to browser.

    both body and html elements are clear of margin/padding now. Not sure where to go from here, but I'm open to suggestions.

    Have you tried this yet?

    Existing:
    body
    {
    background:#3F0175;

    }

    Try this:
    html, body {
    background-color: #3F0175;
    margin: 0px auto;
    }

    Once you'd zeroed out margins and paddings, I was suggesting that you reapplied whatever margin you wanted to the body element. Try mlseim's solution, though ;-)
