    I've never had this problem before and I can't figure it out.

    I have a #container div that has a background image and in IE7 the background image is visible but in Firefox its not.

    The site is located at www.theermitage.com

    You forgot to clear the floats.

    Add overfow: hidden; to #container

    i did... try clearing the left and content divs but that resulted in the background image not showing in IE either.

    sorry i must have done something wrong the first time.

    Now i have another problem though... my content in Firefox starts too far down...
