Can someone tell me the proper way to write a noindex, nofollow meta tag. I can't remember. I don't want the search engines to pick up a site if I can or at least lessen the odds. thanks.

    war,

Use a robot.txt file to handle the robots.
Some spammers won't obey, but it's the proper way to do it.

It's basically a file you put into your main directory (a text file),
with a certain format of codes.

Ok, so this is what i did. I used notepad and saved a text file named robots.txt with this inside(and only this):

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /

Then: I uploaded the text file into my directory so it wouldbe as: www.mydomain.com/robots.txt Did i do it right? Just making sure, ty. Here is the link where I got that code snippet. http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/exclusion-admin.html

    War ...

Run your robots.txt through a validator:
    http://tool.motoricerca.info/robots-checker.phtml

    Enter it in like: http://www.mydomain.com/robots.txt

But just looking at your post, it looks like you did it right.

Then, in a month or two, check your webstats and see if any
search engine robots visited (and how long they stayed). I would
guess you shouldn't see any of them that entered your site.
