Help? please I am so lost and I have been looking:glasses: all over to try and find an answer on why this page looks the way I would like in FF but in IE the div #resources stay vertical and the footer on the right floats up to the top. I got the code from a tutorial I found linked here somewhere, I don't even know it it is the correct way at all to achieve it. I have tried a few suggestions but they did not work for me so I don't know what it is I am doing wrong. I going a bit bonkers  at this point please help?

    Thanks,

    Sue

I started looking at this and even took a shot at it ...

    http://www.catpin.com/mills

So many nested <tables> and <divs> .... I finally gave up.
    It's a mess.

You need to find a 100% CSS template you can use.
    Don't use <tables> at all.

    Hi
Thanks but that is not my site LOL!!! this is cohmlaw.com
but your right there are tables etc... but this was my plan to just get it up then work on the css version I had created for me. reasoning is that I obviously don't know what I am doing when it comes to css yet and it is taking me too long to show my office something. so if I can just get it to look like it does in FF in IE for now then for one then I have learned something that I can apply to the css version. ( that I will have time to play with and then just switch it when it is complete without a time frame) I hope that makes sense and Thank you for trying! I really appreciate it!

Hey no it is great everything seems to work in both now, I just don't know how to move everything over without wrecking what you have and taking too long to do it. I just don't know enough yet and getting frustrated with how long it takes me to figure it all out. SOOOO much to learn or I am just not getting it. My office is loooking to get it done soon. so I was hoping just to give them something then I can work on your version and learning without the pressure of a time frame.
I can't thank you enough for your help!

I just had a thought... freightening I know! lol!
should I just leave the pages I have for now then any new pages use the css version and just figure it all out rather than worrying about moving stuff over for now. I really am trying! I have been reading tutorial after tutorial which to be honest I am just feeling more and more confused. I know what I want it to look like I just dont know how to achieve it yet one site tells you not to use divs too much yet another tells you to use divs for everything.... I just want to do it right and it to work on both FF and IE. okay enough of my ranting I am obviously frustrated.
    Thanks all!

This is bascially the way I go about things - for the layout of the site (like containters, headers, content, footer - stuff like that) stick with divs. Div stands for 'division' - think of it as a certain section of the page. Now as far your actual content goes, using tables is fine - actually somes it make much more sense to use tables. Just try not to over use them.

I think the reason that people think that you should use divs for everything is simply that you can style divs a lot easier and better than you can with tables. However to say never to use tables for anything I personally think is a bit narrow-minded. I think you should try and learn to use everything that is presented to you and make it work for you to it's fullest potential. Use the tags that html provides. That's what they're there for.

    Hey Thanks for the reply.
I hear ya! I am just under pressure and I learning as I go and some of the tutorials and even books say such different things. I think I get a concept then I try it and it looks different in IE and FF and when you are just learning(at least for me)it is very confusing and I don't always know how to put it all together correctly. I guess I am looking for someone to hold my hand through the scary learning process! LOL!!! hence why I am here looking for help.... but I will keep what you said in mind! thank you,
