    if anyone can help me with this i would greatly appreciate it.

    if you view this in firefox the body 'okay test text' and header are properly aligned towards the top.

    if you view it in IE the text drops down towards the bottom.

    can anyone see why this might be by viewing the source code?

    Try adding a [minicode]vertical-align: top;[/minicode] property to the relevant td elements. It may be that Firefox and IE just have different defaults for that property.

    Also note that you should be using all CSS for your styling, and you shouldn't be using tables for your layout at all. Many posts and threads are available around here to help you get away from that practice, which is now widely considered bad (it was the main way of doing things a few years ago).
