    Hey, I've just started out coding in CSS, and have a basic question;
    I'm trying to make a simple two column layout (+header and footer). Can I make the heights of columns match regardless of their content?

    It all depends on the design. Sometimes, even professionals uses tables in this case. You might be able to achive with CSS, but I find that it takes alot of trial and error.

    Start off with a container div surrounding both the columns and see how you go from there.......I believe it is perfectly possible.

    Thanks everyone for the replies. Anyway, I decided to break up the left column into smaller divs.
    Ok, this is the first site I ever made so please don't laugh.
    I use IE, so as I was making it, I only used IE to preview. Basically, it works fine in IE but is complete crap in both Opera and Firefox as I witnessed today. I temporarily uploaded it here;

    Don't laugh!
    Can I put divs around other divs? It seems to be a problem.
    (Note: I haven't translated it into english yet)

    It's better than a lot of people's first websites!

    Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh cute little cats.

    Yes you can put divs round other divs. Welcome to the world of divs. Play around with them, it'll click how hey work.

    Play around with "float" as well - this can be your friend too. Although takes a bit of practise.

    Look at "W3schools" for good tutorials, and other people can give you a couple of other good sites.

    How does someone know they need to click on that cat?
    I only figured it out because I was looking at the HTML source.

    You can also find some creative inspiration here:

    That might trigger some ideas for you in the area of site design.

    There are links under it for the english and croatian version of the site, the cat is just an addition.

    What I don't understand is why the "main" part covers all the divs on the left and top in every browser but IE.
