I was bored this morning and tried to make a mockup of a house in HTML and CSS.

In firefox everything works as I thought it would (I am going to try Opera when I get home from work).

    html house

The 'chimney' lines up with the roof in FF but in IE the padding-bottom pushes the chimney into the 'air'.

Although, maybe that is what my styles are saying to do?

    Any ideas?

You have a couple of issues here.

    I fixed the main issue:
    http://www.catpin.com/house

Now, you have another issues ...
In IE, the left and right margins are double those of FF.
FireFox is correct ... IE is not.

I want you to see this next website because it really explains IE vs FF problems nicely:
    http://www.positioniseverything.net/explorer.html

    Particularly this page:
    http://www.positioniseverything.net/...ed-margin.html

I think that "Explorer Exposed" page is a great resource,
and wanted to post that here for anyone else experiencing
problems like this ... sort of glad that bfsog brought this up.
