    I have been searching for the answer to this problem for ever now so hopefully one of you guys can help me out... I have attached the HTML for my project as well as screen shots for it in IE and in Firefox (as it is not outside of my network yet) As you can see the background is showing up in IE and the site looks great, however in Firefox the background is not showing up (dark green) and the alignment is off... Is there something wrong in my code? Oh and I use dreamweaver CS3 for my design/code work. Thanks!

    I'm thinking it's the DOCTYPE you're using:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

    I think you need to specify the colors as HEX (with the pound sign):

    background-color: #78c25c;

    Try that ...

    Your code is actually really a mess ... hard to troubleshoot.
    I'm guessing there are many other validation issues you have with XHTML1.0 Transitional.

    Don't use a DOCTYPE that you aren't willing to script for.
    That's the whole point of it, after all.

    Thanks for your help, after a few more hours of searching last night I was able to find that you needed the # sign for the colors to show in firefox. Yeah, I use dreamweaver for the code and it gets pretty messy and hard to find things but when I run the vailidator and browser compatibility it comes up with no errors. I am still having some issues with the alignment of the content. In IE it looks fine but is off in Firefox. I was able to get some of it corrected by putting: * {margin=0} under my style type, but there are still issues, any ideas on that?

    I usually refer people to this:

    You can probably find your problem in the "double float - margin bug" link.

    It's a great website that explains things better than I can.

    Thanks for the link!

    I actually figured out a solution that is working. I gave the table with my content in it a height and it fixed the alignment.
