    Hi,
I am working as a web designer for the past 2 years. I know HTML, XHTML 1.0, CSS 2, flash with little actionscript and able to design webpage which conforms w3c standard.
I want to do some specializations in web designing. I have planned to do HTML Developer Certification from w3schools. Will it be useful? [ Also planned to do XML certification ]
Can anybody suggest the certifications that help for web designing career?
    Thanks.

I think if you knew PHP and MySQL, that would be beneficial.

So many sites are now run via backend (dynamic scripting) such
as Joomla, WordPress, Drupal, etc. ... and many custom PHP/SQL
    systems.

So many sites in fact, that I don't think I could find even a dozen
sites that are static HTML pages anymore.

I guess there are two parts:
    Web Design
    Web Development

Maybe you're interested in the graphic/layout design portion?

Elaborate on your quest. Are you interested in both design and development?
In either case, customizing someone's Joomla template would still require some
    PHP knowledge.
