    We shouldnt look upon that fact (be it true, I have not tested it) as a yay for IE.

    As the author we should not link to an anchor named top in the same document if that id does not exist. Just add the anchor, link to it and then your code becomes cross-platform/browser.

    I agree with you, bfsog. I was just simply stating that you can technically say #top in IE, even if the id top doesn't exist. But of course we should create it, then it will work cross browser.
