    I can not adjust the position of the main background for my webpage. The website is robotdukkani.com. I wanted to move the main blue background to 100px left, so here is my css. but, whatever value I write to top or left, it does not move the position of the blue bacground. How can I make the main blue background to start where I want?
    .mainarea
    {
    z-index:-6;
    position:absolute;
    top:0;
    left:100;
    width:900px;
    height:1300px;
    }
    and... here is the html on my index page.
    <div class="mainarea">

    <img src="pictures/mainbackgr.jpg" width="100%" height="100%">

    </div>

    wow ...
    You have some serious issues here ... above and beyond your position problem.
    How many <body> and <head> tags are there? I can't even follow the code.
    And it then gets topped-off with a <table> in the middle.

    I suggest you take a step back and start this one over again.
    I'm sort of strapped for time, otherwise I would give you a template to start with.
    Maybe someone else might be able to get you in the right direction?

    Also, what is the purpose of the website. If we knew more about that, we might
    be able to point you to a table-less and valid CSS template that you could customize.
    Knowing what the website will be all about would help with that decision.

    Yes I would appreciate if somebody could help with positioning the main background...
    The website will be an informational website mainly, like an online magazine...And yes, if you could guide me for some templates too, that would be great. Regardless, right now I need to be able to position the main background.

    would you rather have something like a WordPress site, where the
    content would be added and controlled by various users ... so it would
    be a CMS type of site?

    With your site now, how will content be added, who will add it, and what
    about RSS feeds, diggs, twitter, etc? Will the site supposed to have some
    great content that might be shared in a social setting?

    If you continue creating your static web pages like you do now, what will happen
    when it comes time to enter content, links, pages, user interaction, etc.?

    WordPress is known for blogging, but it can also be used for other dynamic
    sites that provide content, but without the blog feel to them.

    You should probably think ahead on this one and determine what features
    will be needed. I think you're sort of wasting your time by spending too much
    effort on the page you're trying to fix.

    I'm not trying to sound like a jerk ... I think that I'm offering some good advice.
    If you put so much time and effort into a website, it would be nice if people
    actually visited it and used it ... making it worth your effort at least. I don't see
    where your existing site is going to serve you or anyone else.

    Give us more background on your online magazine, and even provide some
    graphics (like you might already have a banner or header graphics)?
    We (many of us on WDF), know our stuff ... we can help you out and save you
    a lot of time, and make your project more successful.
