    How can I setup a Ad-Rotator so when I or Other people adds it to there site, it looks at my Domain and Rotates Banner.
    example, like Bidavertisor, Google, and All the other Pay-Per-Clicks.
    I know it has something to do with Php.

    I would like to be able to setup a Small Database of Links/Banners and when other people places it on their site, I add them to the Database.

    I'm not sure if I'm making this Clear. But let me know if not.

    Thank You.

    So you're saying that if I (for instance) place an add for your site on my website,
    you choose the ad that shows up on my site?

    You're right that it's done with PHP.

    Easiest to use just graphic ads (like .gif and animated .gif), but it can also be
    done with text ads. You will then give the other site owner a Javascript code that
    they place on their site. It's that Javascript code that accesses your site and executes
    a PHP script ... which returns the proper ad.

    The hard part isn't rendering the ad itself, the hard part is managing the database
    of the other site owners, and keeping track of ads and clicks, and managing the
    whole thing.

    You have a lot more issues, such as too many clicks from one IP, or which banners
    to display, and the ability to control other various account issues, as this pertains to
    handling money.

    This will not be an easy project to do.
    You may even want to purchase a pre-made script from www.hotfiles.com

    Yes, thats pretty much it. But would be something simple that doesn't include Pay-Per-Click, or anything like that. Just like a Banner Exchange Program with Multiple People and 1 Area for the Banner.

    I don't know how much thought you've put into this ... you need to provide a
    more specific plan on what you're doing. It will make a big difference in how to
    attack the project ... especially when it comes to the database.

    For some reason, I'm thinking that this was sort of a quick idea you had and did not
    put much thought into it. Do you even have anyone that is willing to buy one of
    your ads? Do you have anyone willing to put your ads on their site?

    You have some more decisions to make ...

    1) Will all businesses see the same ads? In other words, will you have a bunch
    of ads for "computer products" and another bunch for "restaurants"?
    If I sell ink printer cartridges, will I be displaying "restaurant" ads on my site?

    2) Are you going to give each business a code? So when I sign up for your ads,
    you give me the Javascript I need that has a specific code for my business? This
    relates to #1 above.

    3) How do you make or determine the ad banners, and how do you "sell" the
    websites on displaying them on their sites?

    Let's do it this way ...

    First, put all of your ad banners in a directory on your website.
    Then, give me a list for a couple of them, with the URL path, so I can see them.
    We need to be able to give someone the Javascript they need to display your graphic ad.

    That's as far as I can go without a better plan and description from you.

    I'm not going to make this very complicated.
    It's basicly a simple Banner Exchange program on a rotating Banner.
    To get an Idea.
    Banner 1 =
    My Site Banner
    Site #1
    Site #2
    Site #3
    Site #4
    My Site will have Banner 1
    Site #1 will have Banner 1
    Site #2 will have Banner 1
    Site #3 will have Banner 1
    Site #4 will have Banner 1

    When a site is Added, ie Site #5, Then Site #5 will add Banner 1
    Then Banner 1 =
    My Site Banner
    Site #1
    Site #2
    Site #3
    Site #4
    Site #5

    That way All the Sites that has Banner 1 will rotate All Sites.
    No Cost or Charges
    No Pay-Per-Click
    No Tracking ID
    Or Anything that Sophisticated.
    But I want to be able to have the Option to Modify what goes in and what comes out on Banner 1 so it will apply to Everyones Site.
    ie, Like a Banner Exchange. The More sites I get, the more sites each site will be displayed At.
    That way I'm the one whos kinda setting up the banner Exchange for Everyone.

    OK,
    Do this first then ...

    First, put all of your ad banners in a directory on your website.
    Then, give me a list for a couple of them, with the URL path, so I can see them.
    We need to be able to give someone the Javascript they need to display your graphic ad.

    I'll come up with an example for displaying them, and then an example for
    having a simple plain text file database. No MySQL needed.

    Here's the first step ... getting the ad to appear.

    See this test page:
    http://www.catpin.com/adclick/

    You can copy the gray code and put on your own website and the ad should appear.

    Now, about the ad rotating ...
    How should that happen?
    Should it rotate by user, or by page refresh, by day, by week, or random, or what?

    There's so many ways to do it, and maybe you don't want the ad to change each
    time a user clicks refresh?

    Also, how are you going to determine where the ad gets linked to?
    What kind of database are you planning on having?

    I was thinking about doing it for every refresh or everytime Visting the Site.
    Just like if the Rotating banner was on my own Site.

    As for how the Links Gets figured, thats what I'm trying to Figure out.
    I know if you do it with a Rotating banner on your site, you just give it a name

    Site 1
    Site 2
    So On
    EXAMPLE
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    <!-- Begin
    var how_many_ads = 4;
    var now = new Date()
    var sec = now.getSeconds()
    var ad = sec % how_many_ads;
    ad +=1;
    if (ad==1) {
    txt="Spedia.Com. Make Money While Surfing.";
    url="http://www.spedia.net/cgi-bin/dir/tz...l=8&vid=631093";
    alt="Spedia.Com Make Money While Surfing.";
    banner="http://www.spedia.net/imgs/spb.gif";
    width="468";
    height="60";
    }
    if (ad==2) {
    txt="";
    url="http://www.lordblasto.com/deepage.html";
    alt="Lord Blasto.";
    banner="http://www.lordblasto.com/lbnewbanner.gif";
    width="468";
    height="60";
    }
    if (ad==3) {
    txt="Make Real Money On Casino Rewards..";
    url="http://www.casinorewards.com/referra...ff_id=aff40581";
    alt="Make Money With You Website On Casino Rewards.";
    banner="http://affiliate.casinorewards.com/m...860_010405.gif";
    width="468";
    height="60";
    }
    if (ad==4) {
    txt="Halloween Casino.";
    url="http://www.blackjackballroom.com/ref...ff_id=aff40581";
    alt="Halloween Casino.";
    banner="http://affiliate.casinorewards.com/m...lloweenies.gif";
    width="468";
    height="60";
    }
    document.write('<center>');
    document.write('<a href=\"' + url + '\" target=\"_top\">');
    document.write('<img src=\"' + banner + '\" width=')
    document.write(width + ' height=' + height + ' ');
    document.write('alt=\"' + alt + '\" border=0><br>');
    document.write('<small>' + txt + '</small></a>');
    document.write('</center>');
    // End -->
    </SCRIPT>

    This is what it looks like on the site itself.

    So it would be OK to use cookies?
    Each person would see the ads rotated when they refreshed the screen,
    and not everyone would be seeing the same ad at the same time?

    Is doing that OK?

    And the graphic files will be scattered around different webhosts?
    Is that correct?

    As for the ads and links,
    you will be making a simple database like this:

    1|nameofgraphic.gif|http://www.theurlforthelink.com

    A file called something like "adclick.db", which is made up
    of many lines ... each line is the link to the graphic image and the adclick link
    separated by pipes |

    The script will be looking at specific lines depending on which cookie value
    the user is at (for rotation of ads).
