    Hi,

Im wanting to create a PayPal button that lets a customer input an amount they wish to pay rather than the amount being set by myself.

I want this button to do what the donate button does but I dont want it to say donation when it directs to PayPal.

Ideally I would also like it to add on 3% ontop of what the customer enters too to cover the PayPal charges.

If anyone knows how to do this or of any other payment gateways that would work in a similar manner, Id love to know about them as I dont need to use PayPal.

    thanks

    Use www.authorize.net

You'll have a script (like PHP or Javascript) that allows the user to enter a value
on a form (on your website), and after that, all other info is done on the credit
card merchant's site ... unless you have a secure server.

It will cost more than PayPal though.

Thanks for the advice but my client doesnt really want to pay any monthly fee for it, they just want to pay the percentage ontop of the transfered amount.

Is there a service similar to authorize.net that works on the same basis as Paypal?

There might be, but none that I've ever found.
You could look at Google (they might have a payment option).

Ah, you can do it with the standard buy now button on PayPal, if you enter the price as 0.00 then when the user clicks through they get to enter the price.

But you wanted to add something to the cost?
Can you do that too? I think so ... in the shipping part?

You can also use your own graphic button if you want.

Why not just build the paypal costs into the price?
