    Hello WDF,

First post here, thus far. My name is Jeff, and I code in HTML and CSS.

I am looking for a website that contains images useful for my website. I need wallpapers that arn't too distracting, other than that I know how to plug them into my page, etc. Where do you go to get your wallpapers? I just need a website that is popular among web developers, that I can use images from on my web page(s).

    Thanks,
    -Jeff

By wallpapers do you mean your looking to make a site with a ton of wallpapers people can download? or do you mean you want to make a site with a background image...

usually people dont use background images unless they're REALLY good graphic designers. Most use of background images is done horribly.

Keep it simple..look @ this site, a simple grey, but it works perfect.
so try to use simple colors or a simple gradiant.

if your looking for images you can use for free try stock xchng
    http://www.sxc.hu/

it has images you can use royalty free for commercial and personal use.
(BE sure to check the license of the images you do use though)

Just type something in the search box and you should have images you can use for anything, combined with a little photoshop, its a great resource to have.

or as i stated but was removed for some reason, http://gimp.org. its open source. so it wont cost an arm and a leg and has plenty of tools for basic imaging like buttons and backgrounds. also has textures that come with it and basic textures are pretty close to what you describe needing.

"please pm the reason if you choose to delete this post again so at least i can understand why"

    while($get_it !== true){ continue; }

    Thanks aburningflame & dorky =)

aburningflame, I believe you landed on a pretty strong point. I've been searching, and about 90% of all the sites that I go to, all of which use a background color system, as apposed to an image system. Those of which that do contain images for backgrounds, are quite tacky on recollection.

    Thanks,
    -Jeff

If done right, background images can be very effective:

I just found this site: http://www.backgroundlabs.com/

Try to stick to simple textures, unless you know what you're doing design-wise. A good rule of thumb is to pick a background that is low contrast, otherwise it will become too distracting.
