    Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I can make this login box look better than what it is. Just a nice background color, better font for the "User" and "Pass" and maybe another color for the text input fields. I just followed a tutorial for a php login, and thats where I got the code for this, its in tables, and I want to know if it would be difficult to make it with div's and css? Also, how would I make it vertically and horizontally centered?

    Here's what it looks like

    epvision.tvFORWARDSLASHclientlogin

    Thanks!

    I think you should also vertically center the login box.

    Your color and font choices depend on the design of the rest of the site.

    It is vertically centered, but how difficult would it be to recreate this with div's?

    at least in firefox, it is not vertically centered, only horizontally.

    but here is how I would make that, it is not perfect yet, but I'm still learning too.
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html lang="en">
    <head>
    <title>log in</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div style='border:1px solid black;width:30%;position:absolute;left:35%;height: 16%;top:42%;padding:5px;'>
    <strong>Client login</strong>
    <form action='login.php'>
    <table>
    <tr>
    <td>username</td>
    <td>:</td>
    <td><input type='text' name='username'></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td>password</td>
    <td>:</td>
    <td><input type='password' name='password'></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td></td>
    <td></td>
    <td><input type='submit' value='log in'>
    </table>
    </form>
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>

    A logo would probably be ideal, so that clients know that they are logging into the correct system. You have a blank slate here, so really the possibilities are endless. a little best-practices tip would be to use label tags for your labels, like:

    <label for="myusername">Username</label>

    Associating labels with form elements helps with accessibility, and when you click the label it will focus the field that it's associated with.

    Personally I think a light-ish solid color for the login box might look nice.
