Ok well i unfortunately purchased a domain through godaddy, and they pretty much issued me a host, i blindly accepted and so on.

So using this "hosting company" i installed Joomla using the tools they have, and realized that wordpress fits my needs better (as this site is for blogging). So i uninstalled Joomla and installed Wordpress using the auto install feature that godaddy provides... well now i have files from BOTH joomla and wordpress on my site and i can not figure out what too and not to delete. My site has not been set up at all and i was wondering if i could completly wipe out my data base and start over from scratch.

I can not for the life of me find out the hosting company name as well... it mentions no company names in any account info, hosting info, renewal info etc and on my statements it just states "godaddy.com" so how can i figure out what hosting company im using.. (because i have herd that godaddy doesnt host they have other company that host thier accounts)

Now, if i cant start from scratch can i transfer my domain from the godaddy host, too a host that i have other sites hosted by, and by doing that it will be like starting the site from scratch? correct me if im wrong.

And last is it just me or has this hosting thing gotten really complicated these days? i remember 5 years ago in highschool i had a website fully operational, the hosting was simple to navigate and edit. but now a days i cant figure out how to do **** lol.

well sorry for all the text, thank you very much for reading

I think you should be able to transfer your domain to any host you want, as long as it is not in the 30-day period before renewal. But to do so you will have to purchase a hosting account somewhere else - then transfer. Many hosting services offer free transfers with a new account - I know Hostmonster does as I have transferred clients' accounts to them before now.

You will need to login to GoDaddy and unlock the domain, and get an EPP code - then the new host will usually be able to automate the transfer for you, and you will be able to start from scratch. Here is an article on GoDaddy about how to transfer your domain http://help.godaddy.com/article/3560

Seems a bit drastic, though... do you have anyone you know who could get into your Control Panel or FTP and help you sort things out?

Don't switch hosts. It's pointless to switch simply because you're confused. Here's what you should do, just uninstall wordpress, then uninstall joomla, or just one if you have already done the other one.

Once both are uninstalled, you should be able to delete all files and the database tables from your site. Once I get home at 3PM today I'll login to my GoDaddy CP and write you a full how to okay. Just don't go and switch hosts

EDIT: i have been reviewing tutorials on wordpress and cant find out how to move my blog to the root directory so it shows up at myurl.com instead of myurl.com/wordpress. I have found tutorials explaining how but people have complained that after doing so when they try to publish blogs the blogs end up as a broken link. so confused, please help lol.

EDIT: now after installing a new page scheme it does not have a "log in" link on myurl.com/wordpress and myurl.com/wp-login.php comes up with a "The page you tried to access does not exist on this server " error. /wp-admin.php gives me the same error. wth happened? and why can i no longer login to wordpress

Get an FTP client like Filezilla and go in and delete your files through FTP.

Then access your phpMyAdmin control panel for your database and delete out the database or tables therein.

Then reinstall Wordpress using their auto tool.

Unfortunately, removing isn't as simple as installing.

Have you tried calling the help at GoDaddy? They have really good customer service, from my experience. They should be able to solve your problem with one call.

btw, why did you "blindly" purchase hosting too?
