I am trying to have a simple form with just 1 text box.
If the person types in the correct term (promo code)
the confirmation page directs them to the promo page.

If they enter an incorrect term and hit submit, it can either have a javascript popup, or direct them to a "sorry" page whatever.

I used to do this very easily with (gasp) Frontpage, but no one allows extensions anymore :disagree:

You can do this one of several ways....

1.With a simple javascript confirmation script should be able to google it and find thousands of examples )

    2. Depending on what scripting language you're using ( ASP, ASP.NET, PHP )... a simple "if ... then.. else ... " script can accomplish the same functions easliy.

Actually there are several decent companies that still support frontpage extensions, but since frontpage is no longer supported by MS... many are dropping support for the extensions.

I use webhostinghub. I've never used Frontpage myself, but they support it.

You can do it with a Javascript by itself, but I wouldn't. The problem with a Javascript is that anyone with the ability to View Source will be able to get at your password and get the promo/discount. I've actually "hacked" a password-protected area before using precisely this technique on a few occasions (nothing illegal, either...just stupid things like password-protecting a content area that didn't need to be.)

Use server-side programming and conceal the code as much as you can.
