NOTE: This was asked in the general discussion forum - can a moderator remove it from there? I saw this sub forum and feel it's more appropriate. Thanks
    Hello,
My site here has an issue with the navigation in IE 7/8 (of course). The text is aligned correctly and the hover state works correctly in FF and Chrome but in IE 7 the background with border doesn't seem to go all the way around the text. Also part of the conditional comment is showing in the header - I don't know why.
In IE 8 the menu moves below the dark red banner and the conditional comment ending is showing in the header. Anyone know how I can fix these issues? I'm stumped.

    Thanks for any help

You've got a weird hover state. Maybe it the negative margin value screwing it up.

the problem is if I change the negative margin, the text moves up in FF, The hover uses the border radius property - I noticed in FF the text jumps below on hover state

IE 7/8 doesn't support the border-radius property. So that may explain part of it right there.

Personally, though, I don't see a difference other than that.

IE also likes a properly defined DOC TYPE:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
