Neither did I. I just assumed ignorance.

I gotta see this rumor myself, dude. Where'd you see it?

Search engines look for, index content... Period... Regardless or the scripting language used... Server platform it's on... It only cares about content... How the content is emphasized...

It only reads server output ( the same thing you see when you view source )... Then strips out the HTML tags... That's why validation is so important... Spiders expect a certain structure in you tags... And are more likely to ignore content on pages with bad code ... Than on pages that validate.

Properly done CSS is just another tagging sequence for it to ignore...

Lately, I've had to combine divs, CSS, and a table within. I found that CSS tables were hard to customize. I thought I was just giving up until a programmer/developer told me it was the best process to use in my case. So you have to use what's best for you.

After learning CSS, I never used tables again. I was taught by a guy that takes his job very seriously, so his approach is a bit extreme. Sometimes I wanted to wring his neck, but I completely appreciate his effort. Like several members have already mention, tables are strictly for tabular data.

On my website, I have three tables set up with thumbnail photos inside the cells. I tried CSS for the table, but that didn't work too well. I had to revert back to tables for it to work for me. What I need to unravel is the use of CSS within multiple divs to create a table that functions properly. When using CSS I has a lot of problems.
