    Never really have done this before other than let it fall where it lays. I was wondering the best way to code my footer to be at the bottom no matter if the content is really small and there is a lot of dead space. I was debating on position absolute. What are some good suggestions for pure CSS?

    Position:fixed would keep it there at all times. Doesn't work in older versions of IE, though.

    well im looking for footer always at bottom. Most of the code snippets ive researched always have a container at 100% and im wondering if i can still do a footer at bottom even if i havent defined the code to 100%.

    I was debating on seeing if this would work:

    #footer { position: absolute; bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding 0px: }

    i have read some about the .push but cant find out what exactly it does.

    if thats so why do you want a footer at the bottom. your code doesnt give any width or height ratios thus making the footer a bit pointless
