    Hello everyone,

    I was thinking about the possibility of using a repeating graphics model for the background of my h1, h2 elements at this page: http://atlantareviewgroup.com/health.html. I want to do something like this: a beginning graphic like this idea.png (which is attached), and the repeating body graphic set as the background for the h1, h2 elements would be something like idea2.png (which is also attached to the thread). For the end to it, I can just flip the start image horizontally using CSS.

    The question is: How do I get the end and start graphics put in there? All I know to do now is get the background as the middle repeating graphic.

    Let me know what you think about this idea. Maybe it's too complex and impractical.

    You could put floated divs in at the left and right for the idea.png.

    <div class="idea-left"></div>
    ...
    div.idea-left{float: left; width: (however wide that thing is); height: (however high that thing is); margin: 0; padding: 0;}

    Adjust accordingly for the right.

    Yeah, someone else told me about the :before and :after CSS targets. Here's what I tried. I'm still stuck.

    styles:
    Code:
    h1:before{background:url("sectionheaderstart.gif"); width:16px; height:30px; position:absolute;}
    h1{text-align:left; padding:12px 0 0 100px; font-size:20px; background:url("sectionheaderbody.gif"); height:30px; width:100px;}
    h1:after{-webkit-transform: matrix(-1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0); background:url("sectionheaderstart.gif"); width:16px; height:30px; position:absolute;}
    You can see what it looks like: atlanta review -health

    I designed it simply like a cloud, if that helps. You can't see the end image for the end of the cloud because I didn't upload it to this thread, just the repeating body of the cloud.

    I generally wouldn't use targets myself. I prefer the approach I laid out.
    <div class="idea-left"></div>
    <div class="idea-right"></div>
    <h1>Your header</h1>
    <div class="clear-both"></div>

    This usually works out much better for me.
