Shouldn't it be '_blank', because wouldn't that just call the window 'blank'?

Not sure why there is two codes, but they have both worked in the past for me. Although I would reccomend use of the first one.

"_new" is improper. It will attempt to target a frame called "_new", and open a new window with the name "_new" when that frame is not found.

"_blank" is the proper command to open a new window. It will ignore all frames.
