    My nav is not clickable and the hover doesn't work in IE 8.

    Here is how it's implemented in the html:

    <div id="navContainer">
    <?php require_once('inc/nav.php'); ?>
    </div>

    --------------------------------------

    here is the php:

    <ul id="nav">
    <li><a href='http://atrociousallurement.com/about.php' id="about" rel="nofollow"><em>About</em></a></li>
    <li><a href='http://atrociousallurement.com/portfolio.php' id="portfolio" rel="nofollow"><em>Portfolio</em></a></li>
    <li><a href='http://atrociousallurement.com/resume.php' id="resume" rel="nofollow"><em>Resume</em></a></li>
    <li><a href='http://atrociousallurement.com/contact.php' id="contact" rel="nofollow"><em>Contact</em></a></li>
    </ul>

    ------------------------------------

    here is the css:

    ul#nav {
    position: absolute;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    height: 208px;
    }

    ul#nav li {
    float: left;
    width: auto;
    height: 52px;
    line-height: 52px;
    list-style: none;
    padding: 0;
    }

    ul#nav li a {
    background: url('../img/nav.png') no-repeat;
    display: block;
    position: relative;
    height: 52px;
    }

    ul#nav li a em {
    position: absolute;
    left: -999em;
    font-style: normal;
    }

    ul#nav li a#about { background-position: 0 0; width: 262px; }
    #nav li.about a#about, #nav :hover > a#about, #nav ul ul :hover > a#about, ul#nav li a#about:hover,ul#nav li a#about:visited:hover { background-position: -262px 0; }

    ul#nav li a#portfolio { background-position: 0 -52px; width: 262px; }
    #nav li.portfolio a#portfolio, #nav :hover > a#portfolio, #nav ul ul :hover > a#portfolio, ul#nav li a#portfolio:hover,ul#nav li a#portfolio:visited:hover { background-position: -262px -52px; }

    ul#nav li a#resume { background-position: 0 -104px; width: 262px; }
    #nav li.resume a#resume, #nav :hover > a#resume, #nav ul ul :hover > a#resume, ul#nav li a#resume:hover,ul#nav li a#resume:visited:hover { background-position: -262px -104px; }

    ul#nav li a#contact { background-position: 0 -156px; width: 262px; }
    #nav li.contact a#contact, #nav :hover > a#contact, #nav ul ul :hover > a#contact, ul#nav li a#contact:hover,ul#nav li a#contact:visited:hover { background-position: -262px -156px; }

    -----------------------------

    Hmmm from what you posted, looks like a generated CSS script from something.

    The thing about IE is that it reads CSS literally... Any characters that it sees that are not CSS compliant could cause it to stop reading.

    Other browsers ignore non CSS compliant characters ( hence most IE hacks contain characters IE CAN'T OR WON'T READ )...

    Not sure, but suspect the > characters are the culprit here.

    Since you didn't post all the CSS I can onl guess.

    That being said, I recently ran into something similar with chrome... But it was a z-index setting that was making the links non-clickable.

    it's actually not a generated script but hand-coded. anyways the issues seems to be resolved when viewed in IE 8 now.
