    I'm not entirely sure how to get this menu to style properly. It's a very simple horizontal div/css menu. Usually what I'd do is just use nested divs and floating but since I'll be incorporating all of this into a php script, I'm trying for a more organized list method.

    My problem is that any height/width properties aren't working. I know I'm doing something silly, I just can't figure out what it is.

    HTML:
    Code:
    			<div id="tabs">
    				<ul id="tabs">
    					<li><a href="">list 1</a></li>
    					<li><a href="">lis 2</a></li>
    					<li><a href=""> lsit3</a></li>
    				</ul>
    			</div>
    CSS:
    Code:
    #tabs {
    	background-color:#fff;
    	height:82px;
    	width:715px;
    }

    /* this is for the tabs. lets make it fancy. */
    #tabs ul {
    	list-style-type: none;
    	padding:0px;
    	margin:0px;
    }

    #tabs ul li {
    	display: inline;
    }

    #tabs ul li a {
    	width:100px;
    	background-color:#dadada;
    	height:50px;
    }
    Any help would be hugely appreciated.

    Be sure to clear your float.
