    Hi All,

I'm trying to set a mask on a image, where the site background is a linear gradient, generated by CSS3.
I know how to put a background image on top of my gradient, but i'm trying to do it the other way around, so the gradient acts as a mask on top of the image. Text then goes over the image. The image is just light grey.

How do I do this, please?

I can't say for sure if it'll work, but theoretically, you should be able to do it using CSS3 multiple backgrounds. Here's an article on how they work: http://www.css3.info/preview/multiple-backgrounds/

Again, in theory it should work, but I've never tried. Worst case, you could just put another div inside the first one and apply the gradient to that.

Thanks for the reply. I wanted the gradient to go from top to bottom on the page, so over the image (light grey, transparent) like a mask - so I didn't want there to be a second gradient, just going over the image.

    Thanks again

This is what I am working on www.greentest1.co.uk/study You will see a site with blue/black gradient . I would like to put the 'sfsfsffsdf ' text in the centre, onto a transparent background image, so that the linear gradient acts like a mask for the background image.

    Any ideas please?
