I created a simple HTML site with an index.html and style.css file. I put these 2 files and my images directly under the domain in my cPanel.

When I go to the domain, however, I get an ugly page that says /Index of: and then lists my files.

How do I make the domain (http://whattosaytoagirl.net) automatically read the index.html file and display that? (without showing the domain as http://whattosaytoagirl.net/index.html)

Note: this is obviously just a test site I'm messing with.

First see if there is a file on the root called .htacess . If there is, perhaps there is an entry that is getting in the way.

    If not

Check your Cpanel to see I there is a way of setting the default document for the site.

Most hosting companies I've ever dealt with have a list, index.html is normally in the list.

    The typical list of documents:

    Index.htm
    Index.html
    Default.htm
    Index.php

Etc.... And depending on their priority, the ones with the highest priority will be shown as the default document for the root of the folder .
