How to center a fixed high resolution webpage inside small resolution screens ?

I'm building my first website and i've set my webpage to have the fixed resolution of 1000 pixels wide and 850 height.

Once i'm seeing it on small resolution screens ( i have an old 800 x 600 LCD monitor)) the webpage isn't centered but appears shifted to the top and left side of the webpage; this forces people to scroll on the right and bottom to see the high resolution pictures my webpage contains.

Is there a way for me to center my webpage both horizontally and vertically on these smaller resolution screens ? People will still be forced to scroll, but at least they will see the center of the pictures the first time they load the page, instead of seeing the upper left corner of it.

    Thank you for your help.

There is a way, but if it's your first website it might be too much for you to handle. What you're looking for is called responsive design.

Responsive web design - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia <-- this will explain the general concept with some links, but the short version of it is that you apply different CSS files for different screen your particular case, the 800 x 600 screen size. Normally, I wouldn't say design for that resolution, but it's close enough in width to a tablet that you might have to give it a shot.
