    Browser compatibility on my website

    Hi all,

    I've been building a website for my business as a freelance videographer. *I finally got around to uploading it the other day only to realise I'm having some major compatibility issues with various browsers. *My website is www.stuartmillership.com

    The website doesn't seem to load correctly on IE and Firefox, however it works fine on Chrome, Safari & Opera. *I'm Mac based and so unable to check IE on a PC which is a pain, but when I've run the website through a validation/compatibility service it has shown me that it's not working correctly.

    I've uploaded example images of what the website looks like when working (Chrome) and when not working (Firefox):

    SMWorking.jpg
    SMNotWorking.jpg

    (The video randomises, which is why they are different in the screenshots.)
    Does anyone have any solutions for what could be causing the website to not load formatted correctly? *I'd be so grateful for some help!

    Thanks,
    Stu

    My guess is that you're using Dreamweaver and you're referencing a CSS file using some sort of local directory path (e.g. C:\users\Stu\my documents\my website\file.css).

    Upload the site somewhere, though, and we can see the code.

    Turns out you were half right, the code linking my stylesheets looked like this:

    Code:
    <link href="reset.css" type="style/css" rel="stylesheet">
    <link href="layout.css" type="style/css" rel="stylesheet">
    When I changed it to this:

    Code:
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="reset.css">
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="layout.css">
    All is well.

    Cool stuff. Glad I pointed you in the right direction, even if my guess was wrong.
