    Changing the Page Title

    Hi Guys,

    I hope someone can help?

I'm not very technical so please forgive my naivety but I have had a website designed by someone and I need to make some changes to the HTML code and don't know where to start. It's a WordPress website and although I'm familiar with the WordPress settings, they won't allow me to make the changes I need to.

The issues is probably very simple - the page title is currently a h2 and I just need to change it to a h1 but I don't know which file to go into or how to find it?

Thank you in advance, look forward to hearing back.

    Kind Regards,

    Jordan

I'd ask the person that designed the site for you.

There's no way of telling where the heading would be without seeing the files.

in the wp panel left menu go to Appearance -> Theme editor. Then find on the left the template that is used to make a page (page.php, index.php, other custom templates), click it. In the middle will appear the code. Find there something like <?php the_title(); ?> or <?php echo get_the_title(get_option('page_for_posts')); ?>
If they are enclosed in h2 tags, just change h2 to h1, and save

If you don't see Theme Editor then you don't have permission to edit the code. Then you have to ask the person who designed the website

Also might look for an if_page quantifier. Some themes have it set that the homepage will render an h1 and others an h2. It would be in page.php if not a cuatom template for the home page.
