    Media Queries in 2016

    Im new to HTML/CSS and that media query thing starts getting very confusing to me. The last days I was checking TONS of threads here on Stackoverflow, many other webpages and also whats bootstrap doing, but most of them were just written some years ago and seem a bit outdated OR so many different variations. So my questions are:

    1.Which are the REAL standard media queries in 2016 good designers use? (for old iphones, smartphones, tablets, desktop, big desktop)

    2a.Should I use media queries for landscape and portrait?

    2b.If yes, should I use landscape and portrait together like

    @media only screen and (min-device-width : 320px) and (max-device-width : 480px) {}

    OR separate like

    @media only screen and (min-width : 321px) {} for landscape

    @media only screen and (max-width : 320px) {} for portrait

    Or all together? Whats the difference here?

    3.I saw some guys ONLY using min-device-width as media queries, others just min-width (for mobiles too). Whats the best solution today?

    4.On Media Queries breakpoints for Standard device in Responsive Web Design for example, there are so many different media queries, is it REALLY neccessary to use all of them?

    There are no standard sizes. The best way is to just shrink the window until something breaks, make adjustments and do it all again until you get below like 320px.

    To answer every question in one shot...Ron's right. There are no standard sizes. It really depends on what you're building and what content/layout you have to work with.
