    Ok heres my problem, if you use border="1" then a border goes around the table and down the colums and rows but if you use style="border.." then it only puts border around the outside and i need the columns too.

    The way you've got it only putting a border around the whole table. Try putting style="border: 1px #000 solid;" in the <TD> tags. You may have to play a bit to avoid getting double borders.
