    Hopefully my subject title is not too confusing, I tried to keep it short.

    I am working on a file upload form and I'd like to style only the button of the input box/submit button combo.

    Example.

    <input type="file" name="file" />

    Produces an input text box along with a Browse... button. If you add style="border: 1px solid red" you'll get a red border around both the box and the button.

    Is it possible to style the input box and corresponding button separately? (I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but I'm no CSS wiz so I might be wrong.)

    Thanks.

    I'm not sure about doing it inline with the forms but you could do this by making a transparent layer with the border colors that you want and then placing them on top of the form. This would create the same effect.

    It cannot be done. Each browser does it differently and it can't be overridden by CSS.

    That's what I figured. Oh well.

    But I might give Riat_Sila's idea the old college try.
