Need code for slideshow like national geographic slideshow/slider

    Hello all,

I am writing to ask for help regarding slideshows for wordpress. I am trying to incorporate slideshows into my posts. I have included some links from Nat Geo and I am trying to understand if I can use the Nextgen plugin, link here:

and insert or add custom CSS. I am not an experienced web designer, nor can I code, yet have somehow managed to build a large website and am in the final stage before launch.

I have looked at dozens and dozens of slidshow plugins and I cannot find one which allows captions to appear to the left or right of the image. I don't want my captions on a semi-transparent bar strip across the bottom. This looks terrible and interferes with the aesthetic of the design and this is not the way the eye naturally tracks. The eye moves side to side across the screen...less up and down so am not sure why there aren't more slideshows with the excellent design shown in the nat geo slide shows. Image, large, minimalist arrow design. Right or left side bars: title, photo credit, caption, location, shares etc. This is so simple. Why are all of the slideshows so overdone and tacky?

I would very much appreciate if someone could tell me if they have seen the slideshow format below in a plugin or what it would take to obtain the coding for a similar format to the nat geo slideshows. I also like the way the slideshow is presented on the initial post page as a small format image and then one clicks through to the large slideshow "lightbox".

If I can obtain code for this can one add this to the Nextgen plugin. I'm afraid I do not know how that works. Do I add it to the custom CSS area on my wordpress dashboard. But then where do I upload the images if there is no plugin format like Nextgen?

    Thank you in advance.
