If I had ever used tracing in DW I'd know...

What are you trying to do, without using the word "trace" or "tracing" in you reply?

    I think this will help.

    From DW MX Help file:
The tracing image is visible only in Dreamweaver. It is never visible when you view the page in a browser. When the tracing image is visible, the page’s real background image and color are not visible in the Document window; however, the background image and color will be visible when the page is viewed in a browser.

is there a way to fade a object and have it keep a realitive opsition inside a browser? with out using layers ... I cant get layers to resize to a realive position inside a browser only a fixed on which is fine if I only want to use them on the left hand side.

Or is there a way that I can inset links & hot spots in a *.gif or *.jpg file inside Photoshop or Fireworks ? I am new to both ... (same with DW)

    Thanx
any help is always greatly appreciated

    DevilishDreams:
I'm sure you realized that discussion going on is about "HTML Image Maps" not displacement maps used in gfx programs (which is what I think you are refering to through your attachement).

    {sniper}:
Now why do you wish to know Java did you mean Javascript?

Anyway, if you have DW 4 or MX, the image maps can be generated by DW. It generates very clean code for Image maps.

If you want an example, check out this example:
    http://www.nyt-design.com/misc/index.html

First example shows just rectangular hotspots, the second one shows Rectangular, Circular and Polygonal hotspots.

    Hopt that helps.
