    This might be easy to do, but I haven't been able to figure out how.

    If you have an image of let's say an open book that you want to position centered on screen. The image (or drawing for that matter) fills up most of the horizontal space.
    Now you want to display dynamic text on top of the blank pages. How would you go about to do that?

    You could of course put both in two overlapping <DIV> layers, but that would mean absolute positioning which would mess up the layout with regard to other elements on the page that have relative positioning (top navbar etc).

    I would have said layers, like you said above.

    You could use the image as a background image for a table, but you may have the books pages at a slight angle which would make it look out of place.

    I'm not sure if this will help, but you could give it a try and see if it works.

    I'd either create an animated GIF image or use flash to create a SWF file.
