    I'm trying to get some stuff displayed the way I want it, and it's getting to be a rather ugly table.

    I've got a Perl script I've written to produce it, but there's something going on w/ the table that ain't quite right. I'd love to ditch it just use CSS boxes.

    My problem is, it seems that everytime I use a div/span, it has to print the item on a new line. I'm wanting to print out a thumbnail, and then print out three items describing the thumbnail to the side of it. In HTML I'd use an embedded table with COLSPAN, but I'm stuck as to what I'd do in CSS.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Can you explain what you need to do in a little more detail?

    Are the three items in one column? In a row? which side? How are they aligned? Etc.

    It would basically be a thumbnail. Then to the right side of the thumbnail would something like title, developer, publisher (all text) taking up their own line. Then below that would be the next thumbnail, and info, and so on.

    Does that make a bit more sense?

    EDIT:
    float: left;

    That's what I was looking for.

    The default use of a <span> will not cause line breaks. If for some strange reason it does, use the CSS attribute "display:inline".

    Thanks for the tip. I think float: left has solved my problem, but display: inline might come in handy in the future.

    BTW -- span was making a new line do to space contraints... didn't see that earlier.

    THanks
