I know this is not directly related to HTML, but i am not sure which type of scripting language would be best for the job, so I thought I would as here..

How can I have a HTML form output into the contents of an existing XML file, so that the XML file still functions in the same way, but includes the new data?

Thank you very much for reading this, I hope that you can help..

Javascript can't change a file on the server, but it COULD alter a local XML file.

PHP or JSP are your best bets for server-side XML element addition, because they're both DOM-capable without plug-ins... PHP with the Sablotron engine and JSP with Crimson.
