    Is it possible to format how the alt value is displayed in an img tag?

    i would like to change the color, size, etc...

    Nope. You can use divs instead of it (or in addition to it), though, with some javascript for a custom display.

    can you give a quick example of using divs in/around the alt tags? my use of divs is limited to say the least.

    no you can't change the way an attribute of an html tags is displayed

    however....

    you can use the nicer titles script

    The alt tag of a image uses the same formatting as the block element containing the image, so you could put the images in a div and style it with css.
    Maybe also this works:
    img {font-size: 12px; color:FF0000} or something like that.
