I do a lot of slicing when I creat a site and now I have to convert these sites over to CSS. Do I have to rethink the entire design or will I be able to position all of the pieces?

    Few Examples:

Any design positioning, etc. you can do with regular HTML you can certainly do with CSS. I see no reason that you would have to change anything.

    Accuracy

But isnt the accuracy of the positioning in question when dealing with cross browser issues? Does research show that the switch to total CSS and XHTML cover the vast majority of the population?

Any browser inconsistancy in CSS would probably also be inocnsistnat in HTML.

Designing with CSS is much easier. And no, you don't really have to worry about cross-browser functionality. I've designed my site with CSS positioning and it displays accuratley back to IE5 and NS6.
