    HI! I am new here and just want to introduce myself. I am from
    Austin, Texas. I have 5 daughters and a grandson and a granddaughter.
    I am playing around with my web pages and I am trying to make a drop
    down box that has several links in it but I want each link to be a
    different color. I can get the links color but then they won't work
    as links and if they work as links I can't get the color. I would
    also like to be able to make the background all one color in the
    dropdown box too but that is the least of what I want to do. I really
    want the links in color. This is my script that I have. The first 2
    links are color and do not work as links. If anyone can help me here
    I would appreciate it. Thanks

    Hi, Mystir, and welcome to the board!

    What you want is <OPTION CLASS="(class)" value="(your link)"> for each of the links you want coloured (at least if I'm understanding you correctly.) CLASS assigns the CSS style for what's inside of the option and value assigns the value of the link.

    Thank you. Please forgive my ignorance but I am not sure what you mean. I tried one like this :

    <OPTION CLASS="text1"><OPTION VALUE="http://www.mystir.com/where.htm">Where are You Going <--> Dave Matthews Band

    and it didn't work. I am about to pull my hair out about this. My web site I have this on is http://www.mystir.com/songs2.htm if you want to look at what I am trying to do. Some one told me the page didn't come up though but I have several friends that tell me they got it to come up. What you say makes sense I am just not sure how to put it together.

    Nice site. Congratulations on a job well done.

    Welcome aboard. Don't know anything about the links issue, but

    Code:
    <p align="center"><font size="5" color="#00FFFF">Not sure if you can tell or
    not,</font></p>

    <p align="center"><font size="5" color="#00FFFF">but songs hold a lot of meaning
    to me.</font></p>

    ...

    <p align="center"><font size="5" color="#00FFFF">drop down menu here. </font></p>
    can be reduced to:

    Code:
      <p align="center"><font size="5" color="#00FFFF">
      Not sure if you can tell or not,<BR><BR>
      but songs hold a lot of meaning to me.<BR><BR>
      Every song on this page means<BR><BR>
      something to me. That is <BR><BR>
      why I have dedicated a page just to <BR><BR>
      song lyrics. If I ever get the<BR><BR>
      space, when you get the lyrics you<BR><BR>
      will get the song too. <BR><BR>
      That is in the future though.<BR><BR>
      For now, the words will have to do. <BR><BR>
      I will be adding songs, as they come to me,<BR><BR>
      and as I think of them, and as they mean something <BR><BR>
      to me. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. <BR><BR>
      The songs are listed below or you can use the <BR><BR>
      drop down menu here. <BR><BR>
      &nbsp;
      &nbsp;
    </font>
    Which has the same effect and would be easier to change when you so desire ....

    Try putting the class attribute inside the current option tags that you want to inherit the CSS style.

    Instead of that, what you want is:

    <OPTION CLASS="text1" VALUE="http://www.mystir.com/where.htm">Where are You Going &lt;--&gt; Dave Matthews Band

    Each instance of <OPTION> will assign a new option to your dropdown list. That's why your parctiular code didn't work. I added the &lt; and &gt; tags in plase of the other tags because in some browsers, they're taken as the beginning and end of HTML tags. &lt; is the less than symbol and &gt; is the greater than symbol.

    Ok this is your favorite pest again . I am sorry I seem so stupid. I get ideas in my head and look every where for the answer and can't find it. I am trying to change the font now in the drop down box to be bold or italic or maybe even just change the font. I have really really looked everywhere. I just don't know where else to turn. I thank you all for all your help.
