    The code below works. It displays a menu and when mouse is over the button that button changes to a different color. The problem is, when it changes the image, there is a slight delay in doing that, I think more than it should...Can anybody see what the problem is?

    Also a separate question, how can I shrink the size of button? When I reduce widths, it just cuts the button on the end...

    That's kinda obvious... the new image needs to download. Depending on which browser you use, some may cache the new image and old image so that switching between them only lags the first time and works fine afterward. Internet Explorer doesn't perform such caching though.
