    I'm new to web design and so was interested in a feature on "". The backgrounds of cells in some of the tables change colour when you mouse over them. Viewing the source showed me how this was accomplished. I show a similar code below:

    <table width="100%" height="50" onmouseover="'red';" onmouseout="'green';">
    <tr><td width="100%" height="50">Hello!</td></tr>
    </table> (All one line)

    Expecting this to be some kind of link to an external style sheet, I tried it anyway for myself. It worked! My question is, what is the code? I don't recognise any of the bold. It doesn't look like any HTML I've ever seen and the semicolon looks like JavaScript or CSS (remember, I'm new to this!!). Could someone tell me what this is called and where I can find more information about it?

    Thanks in advance!

    The code in bold is Javascript. is a good place to learn javascript. is a good place for free javascripts that you can use on your site, and also disect to see how they work.

    If you're _really_ getting into web design you could get a book on it. However, that would give you a lot more than you will probably use.

    I recommend for examples of scripts. Also, one of the best tutorials I've seen is at
