    hi ppl!
    i'm new to web development. can someone tell me how to go about with handling polls? i want to have a voting/polling system where my registered users choose one of many options... and later the administrator of my website takes suitable action based on the option which receives maximum votes..how do i implement this?

    You need to consider two things:
    • Client-side - what the user sees
    • Server-side - what processes the information the user submits

    The client-side can be achieved by pure HTML. Something like this:
    HTML Code:
    <form method="post" action="somepage.php">
    Some option: <br />
    <input type="radio" name="someoption" value="value1"/> value 1
    <input type="radio" name="someoption" value="value2"/> value 2<br />
    <input type="submit" value="Vote!" />
    </form>
    The server-side requires something a little more complex, but this depends on your server's capabilities. You'll need some server-side processed language such as PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, or any other server-side processed language. Then you need to consider whether you want to create a database or just a plain text file, and whatnot.
