how can i make it so when someone clicks my view source, it doesnt show the code? I have a pop-up set up(which is known by people that come there, so it does not annoy them, they come there to get more stuff for a game) and i dont want other people stealing my stuff. How do i hide it? Make something else show up?

If a user wants to view the source bad enough, they can find a way, because your code has to be shown to the browser. However, an interesting site was discovered a few days that did a pretty good job at hiding the code. The thread is here, which shows a site with the code in action, and here is the page that offers the code with instructions on how to use it.

I really think that trying to hide your code is a rather pointless adventure. Maybe a few years ago, when Javascript was a new deal and there weren't many good references online, it offered some intellectual property protection, but now? No way.

You'd have to have one hell of a scripted page to warrant protecting it like that. There are "how to" articles available all over the web for just about anything you'd ever want to do with HTML, DHTML, Javascript, VBScript and so on.

anyone who wants to look at your code and has the intellegence to rip it from your site will probably have the experties to view the code despite any "protection" you put on.

all you do is annouy your users by disabling all their right click functions or how ever you do it.

    Energizze, check this out:

That does a pretty damn good job of hiding the code if you ask me.

Either way, in the end, there's no way you can do it that's:

    1. Irreversable
    2. Usable on all browsers
    3. Practical

that file you get on the main page just has a lot of license agreement stuff. it loads a file called "encrypt.js" which writes the code for a frameset which directs the user to "index11.php"

and put a piece of javascript at the top to unscramble it.

and so i've extracted the source to that sites main page. not particularly difficult.

I can think of one way to stop that. Have it go to a PHP file with a name/password to mySQL, which then grabs the PHP from there. True, it's only 1 more step, but at least that way you couldn't go to it directly.

    Anyway, good job!
