    HI all, sorry to keep bothering you with questions in this forum, but I was really needing to this, and have only found similar codes on the net, and being a js noob can't customise it.

    What I want is a script that checks the user's browser and if it isn't IE, then displays a message. Can anyone help me please?

    Have you tried something like the below:

    <HEAD>
    <SCRIPT language="JavaScript">
    <!--
    var browserName=navigator.appName;
    if (browserName=="Mozilla")
    {
    alert("Firefox User!");
    }
    else
    {
    if (browserName=="Microsoft Internet Explorer")
    {
    alert("Using internet explorer");
    }
    else
    {
    alert("Not sure what browser?");
    }
    }
    //-->
    </SCRIPT>
    </HEAD>
