    hi everyone

ive made a contact form that directs to a new page after its been sent.

for this new page, i want to keep everything exactly the same, but have a div appear when the page has loaded saying "thanks for sending" or similar, then fade out after a duration of time - say 5 seconds.

does anyone know how to do this using jquery? Please bear in mind i am a newbie

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5...v-using-jquery

i found this, but this is onclick and refers to something with the word "this" - i just want it to happen on page load.

    thanks everyone!

    Hi Emma,

Here is a solution I put together for you on my development server. I hope this is what you were looking for. Please feel free to ask any questions concerning it.

    Hi Emma,

Ignore Justins post on there, correcting you with "jquery is not Javascript". jQuery is just a library written in JavaScript. No idea where he got that idea. So you were right, and his 2nd nugget of advice to learn Javascript then come back, is quite an answer. Messing with code snippets, etc... will help you learn all this. I'm not advocating not learning the basics of JS (Javascript), but tinkering with things is a huge help. Sorry, it just unnerves me when people asking for help, get jumped on like that.

The script you have there, what do want it to accomplish? And then we'll start putting it together for you and get it running.
