    is there anyway to make it so that when you close the window via self.close() or a similar method, the window doesn't display a prompt but just does it.
    I cannot self terminate, you must lower me into the fire.

    First, open it as a child of another window with
    Code:
    var newWin = window.open(blah, blah, blah);
    Then you can close it from the parent OR the child

    well, what I'm trying to do is to schedule the running of a remote php script using ie in windows 2000. My goal is for the script to run, then, once is finished, the onload javascript function will be executed and I could close the window. So I really don't have a need to open a second window. My plan works, but when the page executes the onload and the self.close() function, a prompt appears asking you it you wanna close the window.

    That's an IE security setting.

    You can't disable it in your page.

    You are only allowed to close windows from a script without the user's permission if your page opened them.
